A great weekend doesn’t require a long trip. This two-day plan covers what people search for: time outdoors, good food, wine or views, and something to do at night, all in the Inland Empire.

Saturday – Riverside + Views

Morning: Hike or walk Mount Rubidoux for classic valley views and the cross at the top.

Midday: Lunch in downtown Riverside, followed by a stroll through the Mission Inn courtyards or a short tour.

Afternoon: Visit California Citrus State Historic Park for the groves and a relaxed picnic.

Evening: Have dinner in the Mission Inn district or catch some live music. Check the Xperience Event Calendar for shows at Fox Performing Arts Center or nearby venues.

Sunday – Temecula or Mountain Escape

Option A, Wine Country: Drive to Temecula to visit tasting rooms, have a late lunch, and spend some time in Old Town.

Option B, Mountain: Head to Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead for a short hike and lake views. Castle Rock is a good choice. Have an early dinner before heading home.

Either way, finish with something easy so the drive back feels like part of the weekend, not the end of it.

Make It Yours

Swap Saturday for a day in Ontario/Rancho Cucamonga, with shopping and dinner at Victoria Gardens or a show at Toyota Arena.

If a soak sounds better than a hike, add Glen Ivy on Sunday.

Before you leave, search “events this weekend” on iex.directory to find a concert, market, or local show.

A full weekend in the Inland Empire is usually easier to plan than people expect. Choose what suits your energy, and you’ll have two solid days without leaving the region.
